Be a little more active every day
Whether it’s because of work or the kids, or simply a lack of time, many people are unable to fit physical activity into their daily routine. 30 to 60 minutes of physical activity a day is sufficient, depending on the intensity, to stay in shape and improve your health. Successfully combining exercise with healthy eating habits will help you keep your weight in check!
Short on time? Split up your activites throughout the day and work them into your schedule. Walk for ten minutes from your parking spot to your workplace every morning and evening, and another twenty minutes on your lunch break. That’s 40 minutes of exercise without having to take any time out of your day! No matter where you are, take advantage of every chance you get to move around. Remember each step counts and each minute you spend being active can make a difference:
- Use the stairs as often as possible. You work on the 20th floor? Head down to the 15th floor and walk down the rest. Going down a flight of stairs is great exercise too.
- Get off the bus one stop early.
- Park your car far from entrances.
- Get up and stretch during breaks at work or during commercial breaks when watching TV.
