Nurture good habits
The research is unanimous: children whose parents make good food choices are more inclined to make these same choices as adults. If you have children, do not underestimate the power of your home environment. Remember, you are their prime example.
The best way to encourage your children to eat well is to adopt good habits yourself. If you snack on fruit and get in the habit of drinking milk at meal times, there’s a good chance your kids will too. Sitting down for meals as a family is essential for your kids to foster good eating habits.
Over one third of children aged 4 to 9 consume less than two portions of milk products per day, and the situation gets worse during adolescence. Studies have shown that milk products could contribute to achieving and maintaining a healthy weight. It’s important to help kids reach a healthy weight, knowing that approximately one third of our children are overweight.
Teaching your kids how to take care of their body by eating healthy and being active yourself is no doubt the best legacy you can leave them. Be a role model!
