Get to know your body...I'm 40 and have come to realize that diets don't work, for me. My body craves physical activity, whether it's a brisk walk or housework...I need to stay active. Our family doesn't diet because of the kids, the word diet is a combination of foods you need to live. It's not the foods you need to cut out.

Instead of taking the elvator up to my apartment everyday, I take the stairs. And instead of parking close to the door, I park farther away, forcing me to excercise just a bit more each day.

At 55, my husband has convinced me it's time to ride a bike again. It had bee about 30 years! I've discovered that I love the feeling of freedom as we set out in our neighbourhood and unlike driving the car, there's time to really look around. It's great exercise for not only my body, but also my spirit!

I START WORK REALLY EARLY IN THE MORNING AND ALWAYS FOUND I WAS NOT HUNGRY BEFORE LEAVING THE HOUSE. BY SKIPPING BREAKFAST I WAS STARVING AT MY DESK BY 11:00AM. NOW I KEEP BREAKFAST FOOD AT WORK (EX: CEREAL AT MY DESK, MILK AND FRUIT IN THE STAFFROOM FRIDGE) AND I EAT BREAKFAST DURING MY MORNING COFFEE BREAK. NOW I HAVE MORE ENERGY THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND I DONT GET THAT 3PM SNACK CRAVING.

I have a very healthy breakfast, with a lot of food. Dice apple and leave skin on, sprinkle dry meusli over apple, top with 3/4 cup of vanille yogurt. Lots of crunch and it takes a lot of time to eat. Have a small glass of orange juice and a cup of hot tea or coffee. This will last you all the way to lunch.

My daughter still chooses fruit ,veggies and things like yogurt over chips and other snacks even as a teen. The secret was I would let her pick a new fruit or vegetable or a flavour of yogurt when we would go shoppingwhen she was small. It exposed her to different foods and she develop a taste for a variety of fruit and vegetables that way.

Oatmeal! It lowered my cholesterol. Every morning large grain oatmeal in the microwave (90 seconds!) with milk and fresh fruit .

Everyday I wake up at least 15 minutes earlier than I really have to so that I can sit down and eat my breakfast before I head off to work. Yogurt or fruit, toast and some juice - and then I'm on my way with a 20 minute walk to work. These two activities combined allow me time to wake up and have a great start to my work day.
