When a vegetable salad is my main course, I always include 2 ounces of cheese in with it. My favourite is Canadian Swiss, cut into cubes and tossed in with just a touch of vinaigrette dressing. The protein in cheese curbs the hunger a lot better than vegetables alone.

There is a very simple way of eating less. Try using smaller plates, bowls and cups. It's amazingly simple, but it really does cut down your portion size. If you are consistent in your use of smaller dishes, you will be surprised at how easy it is to fool your eye and eventually your stomach. I lived overseas last year where the dishes were much smaller and when I came back to Canada, I could barely eat the "normal" size serving.

First of all I go for a good walk every morning. Second I always have a good breakfast. Third - I eat my 3 meals a day and have one snack. I eat plenty of vegetables and fruits. I do not eat after supper. I consume plenty of liquids. se

There is never enough time in the morning when you have elementary school children so get up before your children and get yourself ready before the rush. You could work out first with a TV DVD or your own equipment, shower and then either have breakfast alone or with the children but you are ready to face the day knowing you have taken time for yourself.

I imagine that there is an audience watching me eat, move, and get about on a daily basis from morning until night. This reminds me to eat better, move more, stand up straight, smile and promote health and happiness whenever I can. It feels contrived at first, but it doesn't take long to become a habit and it's self-reinforcing. Although no one is watching, they end up doing so because of the positive energy I radiate.
