I walk my chocolate lab Hershey everyday, twice a day. I really enjoy our time together and it doesn't feel like exercise. I also try and limit my junk food intake. I try and indulge once a week only, so that I'm not depriving myself totally but still get to treat myself.

Once you realize that if you eat healthy, you will be healthy! Weight loss then naturally follows. It's about knowing the foods that are good for you and how to prepare them, and staying away from all the bad foods. Stay away from trans-fats. Exercise is important too, but it can be difficult if you do not enjoy it. Try going for a swim or go out dancing. If there is a day where you absolutely MUST have chocolate (like me) try to get in a good walk.

To get the valuable benefits of good bacteria in Balkan style yogurt, I use the 5% yogurt for a spreadable cheese. Pour a 750 gram container of yogurt into a tea-towel-lined colander for 5 to 6 hours, depending on desired consistency. Place colander over a pie-plate to catch the whey which will drip from the yogurt. Leave on counter until ready. A little salt may be added for taste. Should then be refrigerated. Use to spread on toast, or pita bread. For lower fat, use 2 or 3 percent yogurt.

I guess when you reach a certain age you don't look so much in the mirror anymore and try to find faults. You look more at what you can do now as to what you used to be able to do and start thinking about the future. We don't live forever but who wants to be alive and not live? If you are active and eat the right stuff you can be alive and live when you reach the age of "maturity" wheneve that might be for you.

when it comes to exercise do what you can, don't over do it. It's ok to snack between meals if you get hungry, just choose wisely. plain popcorn is good, or fruit/vegetables.

I try not to weigh myself and it seems to work for me, I rarely go over my usual weight. For years I didn't even own a scale. I now keep it in the cupboard under the sink, so out of sight , out of mind! It's not what you have that's important but what you do with what you have. Think fit and you will stay fit. Pauline
