I don't have a scale, or atleast it is broken. As a result, I am quite tuned to my body and how it feels. I can tell when I need to exercise or when to cut down on sweets just by how my body feels - sluggish or full of energy. My actual weight is not relevant. The goal becomes feeling well and liking my body for itself rather than a number in pounds.

Monitor your weight always. Weigh yourself once a week and if you gain a pound or two, don't beat yourself up, but do take responsibility. Make a decision to eat a little better and move a little more.

I monitor my weight loss or gain. This is important even on vacation. Using a chart or graph is helpful. If I see a sudden or large change, I try to find the cause and correct it before a problem becomes too large.

Love your body! Regardless of your shape or size; love your body as it is the stepping stone to good health. Remember that making any healthy changes to your body is a process and it doesn't happen over night. Love your body through that process and know that you have the strength within you to make the changes you may desire.

I am at an age where I feel I'm ready to get to know my body again!!! Me/Myself and I have taken up a new lifestyle and that is to watch what I eat and to journal it. I have decided to go on a Me/Myself and I sabbatical and to get intune with my body. I found over the years I have elbowitis, every time my elbow bends something goes to my mouth and it hasn't been a good thing. I've found a cure, it's called THINK of what you are doing! It's been working for the past 6 months.

Keep a food and mood diary to find out what foods affect in different ways, it makes it easier to modify your diet to include more of what makes you feel better

Don't eat while watching tv. You'll probably become so involved in the show that you won't realize how much you've eaten.

One trick I have learned is to eat out of bowls instead of plates or use small containers to bring my lunch to work as often that small container is just the right size without over eating. This encourages smaller portions.
